Amusement Parks are something my family loves. At the end of this month, we are visiting, for the first time, Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia. It’s an amusement park 75 miles south of the nation’s capital.
Between April 16 and May 15, the Spring Bloom Festival will be taking place at Kings Dominion. The kiddos thought it would be the perfect celebration for my birthday. I admit, they have great ideas! Every Saturday and Sunday through May 15, Kings Dominion will treat visitors to internationally inspired food and drink pairings under their 1/3 scale Eiffel Tower. The view should be stunning with thousands of spring flowers blooms along International Street!
Arts and Crafts for children and their families will be hosted in Planet Snoopy. While supplies last, kids can participate in a Lowes Build & Grow Workshop, Flower Pot Decorating, and a Petting Zoo.
Kings Dominion just announced that the Bandstand on International Street will become the Spring Bloom Stage, featuring live local entertainment throughout Spring Bloom. I’m hoping my daughter doesn’t notice that the Disney star, multi-talented Sabrina Carpenter will perform hits from her debut album “Eyes Wide Open.” It’s a free-with-park-admission concert. Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Sabrina Carpenter will perform at the Kingswood Amphitheater on Saturday, May 14 at 6 p.m.
The Spring Bloom sounds like a great time and we are so excited to get to be part of it.
My kiddos can’t wait to test their courage with the park’s newest ride addition, the ‘Delirium.’ This 90-second ride takes riders 115-feet high and rotates 360 degrees in the air!
Li’l Man is most excited to see the MOON TREE. He loves all things about Space and Kings Dominion has part of space history. In the early 70s, as part of the Apollo 14 project, several seedlings were taken up into space. They were the personal items taken by Stuart Roosa, and orbited the moon 34 times. The seeds were brought back to Earth and distributed throughout the United States. Kings Dominion has one MOON TREE. This tree is located off the midway by the Eiffel Tower. See the canister that held the Moon Tree seeds on Apollo 14’s mission to the moon at collectSPACE.com.
Kings Dominion also has the MOST attractions over 300-feet in the United States. My kiddos want to ride them all. They are Drop Tower, Eiffel Tower, Intimidator 305 and Windseeker.
I’m looking forward to riding the historic 1917 Carousel!
There’s so much to explore. We can’t wait to share with you, our first adventure to Kings Dominion. It’s just a few weeks away!
