Hershey, PA The Sweetest Place On Earth for Family Vacations!

“ The Sweetest Place on earth was written as I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Hershey Entertainment and Resorts. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

The Sweetest Place on Earth Hershey, PA knows family vacations are memories. Even when everything goes wrong, they become a bond between family. Everyone in my family can tell you about our first trip to the Atlantic. My parents ended up renting a beach house (which I’m sure weakened their wallets), it rained every day we were there. It’s a vacation we talk about when we get together–we learned to play Spades and Hearts, and in the rain, we waded to the dock where with last night’s corn cobs we went “crabbing,” yielding a delicious dinner.

Vacations that are within a day’s drive always entice me. Hershey, Pennsylvania might just be the SWEETEST PLACE ON EARTH. I’m not kidding. From beauty in the scenic surroundings to the air smelling like chocolate there’s a lot to do in and around Hershey.

Those who love gardens will stand amazed at Milton Hershey’s formal rose garden from 1937 that today, features more than 23 acres of beauty. Marvel at the theme gardens, see the seasons burst with colors, delight in the outdoor Butterfly House but don’t forget the Hershey’s rose garden, filled with more than 5,000 rose bushes that will leave you and your senses in awe!

Hershey story

The Sweetest Place on Earth: Rags to Riches

A rag to riches story about the accomplishments of a man whose last name has been synonymous with chocolate is highlighted in The Hershey Story. Visitors will meet the man through never-before-shared stories. Learn how he revolutionized chocolate making and be touched by the heirs of his fortune, the orphan boys at Hershey Industrial School. It’s an interactive experience that will remind us why America is truly a land of opportunity.

Theme park enthusiasts will find that Hersheypark does not disappoint. The first roller coaster arrived at the park in 1923 and today a total of twelve. Within the park, there’s The Boardwalk at Hersheypark, a waterpark, and ZooAmerica-North American Wildlife Park.

One of the fun things about Hersheypark is the theme of Hershey. The size charts range from “Miniatures” (0-36) to “Jolly Ranchers” (60″ and above).

Hotel Hershey

The Sweetest Place on Earth: Hotel Hershey

This summer we’re heading up to stay at Hotel Hershey.  I’m excited to go back in time and experience this historical landmark, built in the 1930s that overlook Hershey, Pennsylvania.

hershey park camping resort

Prefer something a little more “down to earth”? Don’t miss Hershey Camping Resort. Its’ 55 acres of rolling scenic beauty. Before 1963, the land was a working farm that started in private hands and then in the 1940s the land was sold to Milton Hershey. Park employees share that even before it was under the umbrella of Hershey, the original farmer had campsites on the property.

Even more exciting is that 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the campground, opened in 1963.

Hershey, PA is a getaway that has it all. Visit the Hershey events calendar and discover everything you need to know to plan your visit to this landmark museum in Chocolatetown. The possibilities will amaze the family!

Beyond Hershey, PA there is even more to do. This year is the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. The battlefield where this historic battle was fought and President Abraham Lincoln gave his infamous Gettysburg Address is just 60 minutes South of Hershey.

I once read a book, Lancaster County Christmas–and while it may not be the same county, what you may know Lancaster County for more than the book I read, is the Amish. Lancaster Dutch Country is not far from Hershey, PA to the East. I was eighteen when I came to know about the Amish. I saw them in a horse-drawn carriage and have continued to learn more about their lifestyle.

To the West of Hershey, visit the capital of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg. A city filled with museums, festivals and American History from the Civil War to the Industrial Age and beyond.

When planning your next family vacation, look at the possibilities of Hershey, PA. It’s a place you’ll want to call your home away from home.
