We had a wonderful time during our stay at Great Wolf Lodge I am excited to announce that they are joining the movement to reduce their waste footprint by replacing plastic straws in all of their locations with the more environment-friendly paper straws by the end of the year.
This initiative will save more than 5-million plastic straws from entering landfills each year. Many companies are joining this initiative and together they, with Great Wolf Lodge, will reduce the nearly 7.5 million plastic straw waste that has lined the U.S. coastline in the past five years.
Great Wolf Lodge, North America’s largest family of indoor water park resorts will be offering paper straws at all food and beverage locations at all 17 of its indoor water park resorts.
“Over the past couple of years we have implemented several programs designed to reduce our environmental impact, ranging from energy-efficient LED lighting, to resort-wide recycling programs and low-flow shower heads. We’re excited to further enhance our environmental efforts by removing plastic straws from our resorts,” shared Great Wolf Resorts Chief Executive Officer, Murray Hennessy. “As a family resort, we feel it’s imperative that we do our part to ensure that children visiting Great Wolf Lodge today will be able to enjoy the natural wonders reflected in our resort’s outdoor, northwoods theme for years to come.”
In 2007 Great Wolf Lodge introduced Project Green Wolf, a program focused on energy and resource conservation which has become an integral part of each resort’s daily operation. As part of the Project Green Wolf initiative, the use of paper straws is the latest of the company’s efforts to be a good steward of the environment.
In addition to the paper straws, Great Wolf Lodge will maintain a small supply of other straw options for guests who are unable to drink from non-flexible paper straws.
