Our schweenie, Bailey Mae, enjoys her walks through our neighborhood; but with the weather turning cold, she needs an overcoat to keep her from shivering. We received The Gold Paw Series Astoria Overcoat to review and have found it to be a perfect choice.
First, allow me to share with you that Bailey Mae has the length and chest of a dachshund. She is LONG, and her chest is broad. Finding clothing to fit her is quite challenging. The Astoria Overcoat comfortably accommodates Bailey Mae’s 17 inches in length and 15-inch chest.
It is a seamless overcoat that repels water instantly. It is perfect for the winter weather here in Winston-Salem where rain is frequent and cold. This coat is ready for any weather! Named after Astoria, Oregon–a city perched on the confluence of the Columbia River and the surging Pacific. Astoria is a city well-known for wet weather.
Bailey Mae LOVES her Astoria Overcoat. When it is time for her walk, and she sees the jacket come off her coat hook, she will lay on her back waiting for it someone to put it on her.
When we walk through the neighborhood, and she meets up with the other dogs, she will prance, showing off her overcoat.
When we return home, and it’s time to remove her jacket, she will bite it and pull it wanting to keep it on.
The Astoria Overcoat for dogs is a great jacket with an oversize collar for excellent coverage. It folds back revealing the fleece lining, in a contrasting color. There is a trim that is reflective so cars can easily see Bailey Mae when we are out and about at dusk and later in the evening when visually Bailey Mae’s black and brown fur blends in with the night.
The jacket is not heavy. It offers a mesh lining that keeps Bailey warm, repels water and wind, and the fleece lining adds an extra layer for the colder days and evenings.
I love that this jacket moves with Bailey Mae. It easily keeps up with her giving her coverage without restricting her. I am sure this is why she loves the Astoria Overcoat. It allows her to run, play and jump without getting tripped up or choked out.
The Astoria Overcoat also offers a leash opening for larger sizes and a D-ring attachment in the smaller sizes. It makes securing the leash easy.
I am also a huge fan of this jacket with the ability to be tossed in the washer and then the dryer. It cleans up nicely and removes the puddle splatter, dog hair and anything else Bailey Mae gets into out there.
It’s a great way to help keep your pet safe this winter.
