Every year, we all get a year older.
Okay, so maybe that was a stupidly obvious thing to say to the point where you’re confused whether you’re going to get annoyed or amused at that statement. Don’t worry. I feel the same way.
But you know what else is annoying and amusing at the same time? How, despite all the things that we can do on our birthdays, still we choose the same thing over and over again. Every. Single. Year. Of adult life. We gather our friends, whether it’s a big group or a small group, and we head to the pubs, the clubs, and we do the same thing. We get riggity, riggity, rekt, son.
But there’s so much more to do on your birthday besides getting drunk on alcohol. And now, they’re not boring alternatives either. Read on:
Hit The Beach
Beautiful sand, splashy blue water, and a wide variety of sea creatures that you could encounter. A trip to the beach doesn’t just help you get away from the city setting that seems to imply that you need to grind, grind, grind. It also helps you get in touch with the serenity of being able to sit back once in a while and to admire the beauty of nature. You can’t go wrong with spending a day or two at the beach.
Plan a Park Party
If you don’t exactly want to go anywhere far, then the local park should also be a nice place to spend your birthday. The park is great because of the number of things you can do there. You can have a simple picnic with your friends and family, or you can also opt for a more elaborate birthday scavenger hunt. Either way, it’s far better than subjecting your ears to blaring music and intoxicating beverages.
Go On A Camping Trip
If you’ve got the gear and maybe even an RV to spare, a camping trip may not be such a bad idea. Imagine settling down next to a beautiful lake, having a barbeque with your closest friends, and roasting s’mores and sharing ghost stories over a campfire. It’s cliche, but also very fun. You not only get away from the stress and pressure of the daily hustle, but you also get to appreciate the simple things — beautiful trees and other things that grow, the bright stars at night, and the bonfire that burns just as brightly as the friendship you share with your buddies.
Attend A Music Festival
Now, if you really must insist on being a party animal, well, try being a party animal somewhere that puts a huge emphasis on art. Music festivals are great places to go on your birthday. The music alone is well worth the effort and the collective display of support and appreciation for an artist you all love makes you feel like you belong to society rather than simply being an aimless drone, dancing the night away with reckless abandon.
