Step out this Mother’s Day in both the wine and fashion of Italy, where they know a little bit about both. Pour Mom a glass of STLTO (pronounced stiletto, like the shoe) wine and celebrate the day. Made by women, for women, the selection includes two fresh, fruit forward white wines: Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay (both un-oaked) as well as a wonderful red blend of Malbec and Merlot.
The Pinot Grigio comes from grapes sourced from 40 year vineyards from Italy’s Central Abruzzo region. The grapes are hand-harvested, picked and packaged by STLTO’s all female production company in Abruzzo.
The taste of the STLTO Pinot Grigio is full, round and rich with great mineral and intense flavors. Tantalizing aromas of orange blossoms, honey and hints of apricot, apple and spice.
Hold out your glass for STLTO Prosecco DOC, made from grapes sourced from the rolling hills of Veneto just north of Venice. The vineyards are oriented north-south and west-east with 4,500 vines per hectare, with an average vine age of 12-years old. The grapes are harvested by hand in small lots.
STLTO Prosecco DOC has a very fine and persistent bubbles with straw yellow and greenish reflections. Generous amounts of pear and apple accents.
One of my most favorites is the STLTO Malbec-Merlot. Grapes sourced from the same vineyards in Abruzzo as the Pinot Grigio, this wine has aromas of black cherry, plum and flavors of bittersweet chocolate.
The name itself is fun and speaks to us like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. Stiletto’s capture our eyes and for many women are a symbol of feminism. STLTO Wines name is original and is an acronym for: Sophisticated Timeless Lavish Trendy Outstanding. Clever–huh? It’s about being proud, standing tall and loving life.
The brand was created by Sarah Libratore who wanted the brand to embody a truly and uniquely female experience. The majority of STLTO staff, from ownership and admin to bottlers and boxers are women.
Not only is the wine Italian and stylish, it’s EcoChic. Every steop in the wine making process: Harvesting, Storage and Bottling is environmentally friendly.
Each bottle is reasonably priced at $10.99 and can be found with your other favorite wines locally or online through stltowine.com
A bottle of STLTO wine is a great accessory to your Mother’s Day brunch. They are delicious and unique.
