We received Catch the Fox from Goliath Games in exchange for this review. All opinions and our love for family games remain our own.
It’s a snow day, and the kiddos are pulling out games. We are spending time unplugged, just enjoying each others company. Family Game Night is one of our favorites, but, honestly, my kiddos, play board games on their own anytime. Today, the pulled out Catch the Fox from Goliath Games and the room filled with laughter and “let’s play again; you want to?”
Catch the Fox is a game filled with suspense, which I think is the main appeal. It’s targeted for ages four years and older, but my 12 and 13 years old think it’s great!
Gameplay involves a greedy fox that’s entered the hen house, and the job is to save the flock of chickens.
Upon opening the box, MacKenzie attached the stickers to the Fox. This involved his eyes, tongue and some chicken characters on to his boxers. She added number stickers to the dice. It didn’t take much time, and once you do it, it’s done.
Catch the Fox Game Play:
You pull the fox’s pants from inside the bottom of the character up over to his waist. Then each player makes their best chicken sound, and the winner goes first.
Each player gets a game card that looks like a hen house.
Play beings with the first player rolling the die. He will roll either a one or two. The player places the number of chickens rolled into the pockets of the fox’s pants.
To complete the play, the player pushes down on the fox’s head one time.
If nothing happens, the next player takes their turn. This continues until suddenly, without warning, when the fox’s head is pushed, his pants disappear, and the chickens start rolling all over the place!
The first person to rescue five chickens by placing them into their hen house wins!
It is a hilarious game.
The chickens are about the size of a marble, so pay attention when playing with smaller children who tend to put things in their mouths.
Catch the Fox recently won the ‘Best new game 2017′ at the London Toy Fair and also won the “Game of the Year’ at the 2016 Paris Toy Fair.
