This is the year my children decided to become athletes. Trust me; it has taken a decade for us to get here. My eyes see them as uncoordinated, cheerleaders thrown into the game of soccer or ready to race around the roller rink. My heart sees them as persistent, determined and having a blast experiencing the world of sports.
Miss M tried out for soccer.
She earned a position on the girl’s soccer team.
By the second game, we realized that she was sticking this out and needed something more than dad shoving a water bottle at her saying, “Here! Drink this.” Dehydration is real, and our daughter came off the field with shriveled lips, flushed skin and sweat dripping from her face, hair, and body.
Even during outdoor play, parents need to be mindful of hydration. Here in the South, it can be a challenge. We have lived here almost three years and the hot, humid days wear us down.
Sports drinks let me down with the artificial ingredients. It took us forever even to find one both my kiddos would drink. While the taste was a battle and my kiddos were drinking water, we realized water isn’t enough. Sometimes, when that sun is heating up the field, and the game is moving fast, electrolytes are needed. Miss M learned to alternate between water and the sports drink.
We partnered with BodyArmor to keep my kids going through the game and at home.
Created by the co-founder of Vitaminwater, Mike Repole, and founder of Fuze Beverage and NOS Energy Drink, Lance Collins, BodyArmor is a choice that makes leading sports drinks bland and boring.
Stocking our refrigerator and pantry with BodyArmor gives my kiddos eight reasons to come in from hard play and quench their thirst: Fruit Punch, Orange Mango, Mixed Berry, Tropical Punch, Grape, Lemon-Lime, Strawberry Banana, and Blackout Berry.
Each of the eight flavors contains coconut water, two and a half times the electrolytes of traditional sports drinks and are low in sodium.
We received six flavors of BodyArmor, and the question became, would the kiddos drink it?
The kiddos found the drinks to be light and refreshing. They have a hint of sweetness, very subtle. The kiddos went roller skating this weekend and worked up a sweat during the four-hour session. As soon as Miss M walked into the house, she headed for the kitchen, opened up the fridge and grabbed a BodyArmor.
BodyArmor SuperDrink Backed by Kobe Bryant
It’s a brand that Kobe Bryant and other high-profile athletes like Buster Posey, Andrew Luck, all believed in enough to write checks for stakes in BodyArmor. The brand also is endorsed by Kevin Love, James Harden, and Mike Trout.
The Washington Spirit has signed a partnership with BODYARMOR, making it the Official Sports Drink of the team for the 2016 season.
My kiddos don’t know any of the athletes, except maybe Kobe, and it doesn’t seem to matter. They love the taste of Body Armor and the way it makes their body feel.

I love that they are gluten-free, contains natural ingredients, no caffeine and come in 16 oz bottles. We can throw them in the cooler or gym bag, so they are ready to go when we are. As a mom, I also love that DrinkBODYARMOR.com is available at Kroger, Target, all places I shop.
