“I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.”
Food to me is love. I love that the same ingredients can be rearranged and create something new. Every dish has a story to tell. Some I’m more fond of than others. When I’m not baking, or eating, I love reading through cookbooks. New on my shelves this month is Blue Ribbon Baking from a Redneck Kitchen.
The book is written by National pie champion, and self-proclaimed redneck, Francine Bryson. You may know the name from her appearance on CBS’s The American Baking Competition where she went on to become a finalist on the show. She pulled off pairing chocolate and peanut butter with bacon!
Blue Ribbon Baking from a Redneck Kitchen is divided into eight sections and include:
Cookies & Bars
cakes Like Granny Made
Baked Goods to Show Off
Biscuits & Bread
Candy & Truffles
Yep! All my favorite things. I love that there is an old-fashioned pie crust recipe–Nana’s Lard Crust. I have often heard my grandmother, Charlotte the Great, talk about cooking with lard, so it is fun to see a recipe for it.
