Ticks, ticks and more ticks!
It’s the drawback to owning dogs here in the south.
I hate the little blood sucking parasites.
We found this icky tick on our dog Jeb. It’s the biggest, grossest tick I have ever seen!
What would you do if you found such ickiness on your dog?!
Ewww!
Even if your dog isn’t active and just sits by your side, binge watching, The Walking Dead, there’s still risk of exposure to ticks. I mean, you have to let her out to potty; right?! The risk is real, folks.
When I was fourteen, I have a distinct memory of getting out of bed, looking at my leg and seeing this big old black spot on my shin. It was a tick! Thankfully, that has been the last tick found on MY body, but my fur babies (and one of my human babies) have not been so fortunate. It’s an ongoing battle. Ticks are an equal opportunity parasite!
Dogs need tick protection. Even the one’s just let out to tinkle.
Protect your dog and yourself. Ticks can carry diseases that can be harmful to both you and your pet.
Check out what kind of ticks are in your area and what diseases your dog may be exposed to by visiting mypet.com and selecting your state.
How to Check Your Dog for Ticks:
- Examine your pet for ticks after an outing.
- Part the dogs’ hair and ruff up his/her coat.
- Visually look for a tick (remember they can be very, very small)
- Check in the ears and between the paw pads, too.
- Visit MyPet.com for more information on how to check for and remove ticks.
Remember, it is always a good idea to consult your veterinarian for advice on how to remove ticks from your dog. It’s also a great moment to talk to your veterinarian to discuss which flea and tick control is best for your pet. One convenient option that provides extended duration is Bravecto® (fluralaner) a tasty oral chew, that lasts for up to 12 weeks*.
Bravecto takes the worry out of tick protection so you and your pet can enjoy the outdoors!
Ticks are disgusting and ruin a great snuggle.
Don’t let ticks come between you and your fur baby.
*Bravecto kills fleas, prevents flea infestations, and kills ticks (black-legged tick, American dog tick, and brown dog tick) for 12 weeks. Bravecto also kills lone stare ticks for 8 weeks. Go to Bravecto.com for full prescribing information.
