Barns were a part of my teenage years. We moved to rural Appalachia when I was thirteen and during one summer I learned about tobacco farming and the role a barn plays in the process. I loved driving the winding road home and seeing the barns along the way, filled with hanging tobacco, drying.
Now I drive long winding roads home on the other side of the state and miss the rows of tobacco in the field and the sight of tobacco hanging in a weathered barn.
Across the nation, there are barns that look different and serve different purposes. This giveaway honors the Amish barn raising!
