According to a recent infographic created by the online doctoral nursing programs at Bradley University, 40% of physicians in hospitals took on more patients than they could comfortably handle in 2016. Not only is this a worrying statistic from a patient point of view, but it’s also a clear sign that the nation’s doctors are overworked and not performing at their best. The United States is calling out for nurse practitioners to help alleviate the problem.
Nurse practitioners can deliver 80% of the services that doctors can. They are also less costly to hire, and available in larger numbers. However, with the US population aging, there still aren’t enough. It is hoped that more people will consider looking into the best DNP programs and enter into a healthcare career.
