Since I was a teenager, we have always had a compost bucket in the kitchen. typically it has been a large orange Tupperware container. The drawback is that it had to be emptied every night, sometimes several times through the day because it reeked. Oh, how it stank! In my kitchen, there have been times when I knew the smell would be gag-causing of produce waste and such, and just threw it out with the trash.
Thankfully I have the Stainless Steel Kitchen Compost Bin with Silicone Grip By Earth Cycle and I am loving the ability to compost. It’s the perfect solution for the efficient recycling of kitchen food scraps, like carrot tops, potato peels, egg shells, coffee grounds and more, to be put to good use in the garden.
This kitchen compost bin measures 11-1/2″ H x 7″ in diameter. This is the perfect size for the kitchen as it fits under your sink. It is also attractive enough to use on your counter top. It has a sturdy handle that makes it easy to carry.
I love that is easy to clean; it wipes easily with warm soapy water and never stains or absorbs odor.
The lid has a replaceable charcoal filter that does a great job of controlling food scrap odors for up to six months.
I’m so glad we’ve evolved and no longer have to put up with the horrible odor of food scraps for compost rotting on our counter. Our garden is so much happier!
