Jammy Jams are CDs of lullaby renditions of Lady Gaga hits, hip-hop classics, and Christian Rock hits, so I have to admit I was reluctant to put Jammy Jams into my CD player. I mean, who REALLY wants their toddler / preschooler / baby to listen to Beastie Boys’ Girls? Or to Gangsta’s Paradise? BUT as usual, my MES discovered the cuteness of the cover and wanted to play the music and dance. Since we are not much into hip hop and I only know a few Christian Rock tunes and since I do have an “official” TWEEN in the house, the consensus was to listen to Goo Goo Gaga, Lullaby Renditions of Lady Gaga Hits. I had no idea how this could possibly be a good thing; I didn’t really want the littlest ones to listen to those lyrics!
No need to worry though; Jammy Jams don’t contain lyrics! It is the most clever thing I have ever heard, and the kiddos LOVED it; even I was smiling at how sweet these songs were! These super-hip songsters have arranged the hard core hits into soothing lullabies that kids love and parents recognize as their own favorite music. My tween was too excited that now her little sister would know the cool songs of Lady Gaga and MES thought it was awesome to dance her ballet to this BEAUTIFUL music.
You’re scratching your head in wonder and awe right now, aren’t you? You’re wondering where in the world this idea was spawned and what it is. Jammy Jams delivers your favorite music in a relaxing format you and your baby can enjoy while baby is ”rocked” to sleep! Soothing sounds of vibraphone, marimba, xylophone, piano, blocks and more are performed and arranged by Tim Phillips and Jeff Bradford. In 2010, shortly after Jeff and his wife Lynn welcomed their son Rollins into the world, Jeff was inspired by his son (during late night feedings) to develop lullabies that would not only provide soothing, calming music for baby, but would also entertain the parents. On one late night in the winter of 2010, Jammy Jams was born!
Currently, there are three albums available: Once Upon a Rhyme: Lullaby Renditions of Hip-Hop Classics, Goo Goo Gaga, Lullaby Renditions of Lady Gaga, and Once Upon This Rock, Lullaby Renditions of Christian Rock Hits. You can find downloads at itunes or on Amazon.com.

I am sure that when Lil Bit arrives, the children will clamor to allow her to listen to these CDs as she falls asleep. I even imagine the tween singing the lyrics to the very slow, rhythmic tune. And, yes, even Girls and Gangsta’s Paradise were soothing enough to allow me a short little nap while MES leaped and twirled across the living room floor.

More About Jeff Bradford:
DC’s very own Jeff Bradford is responsible for giving the standard lullaby a modern day makeover. Jeff has created fun lullaby renditions of popular songs by modern artists such as Lady Gaga and the Beastie Boys. Jammy Jams is a fun, modern twist on lullabies for parents who strive to create memories with their little ones while teaching them a thing or two about their own style.
Jeff Bradford was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC. At the age of five, he picked out a drum set for his birthday and he has been making music ever since. His love of music combined with his incredible musical talent and disposition for creativity opened the door to amazing musical opportunities. As a young teenager Jeff performed all over the Washington DC area and eventually expanded his musical horizons by playing club tours throughout the United States. While drummer for his latest musical endeavor, Hollowboy, he toured the United States and Canada playing performances to sold-out shows. Hollowboy went on to be voted best unsigned band by Rock Sound Magazine in 2009.
In 2010, shortly after Jeff and his wife Lynn welcomed their son Rollins into the world, Jeff decided to take his musical career in a different direction. Inspired by his son during late night feedings, Jeff decided to develop lullabies that would not only provide soothing, calming music for baby and mom or dad, but would also entertain the parents. Jeff called his Hollowboy band mate, Tim Phillips and asked him to be a part of a new lullaby making project. Over the course of the next six months, Jeff and Tim recorded and arranged lullaby versions of songs originally performed by bands and artists ranging from Dr. Dre and Run DMC to Lady Gaga and the Fray.
|Lauralee Saad loves homeschooling her three kiddos: Ballerina, age 8, Big Boy, age 6, and MESS, age 3. She enjoys sewing when she can find a spare corner to set up her machine and dig out fabrics, cooking and baking – especially if the kiddos are helping, and enjoying a good book after the kiddos have gone to bed. She is thrilled to be welcoming a baby girl into the family in March of 2012.|
