Eggland’s Best Goes Pink to Help Find a Cure

Beginning today, through November 15, Eggland’s Best, for the second year in a row, is having its eggs stamped with the famous pink ribbon in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s efforts to raise awareness of, and funding for, the fight against breast cancer. The infamous red “EB” stamp is changing to pink and will be featured alongside the Susan G. Komen for the Cure running ribbon logo.

This is a great partnership and Eggland’s Best has pledged $50,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which will help expand the foundation’s mission to discover and deliver the cure for breast cancer worldwide. In the past year, with the help of companies, including Eggland’s Best, Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been able to invest an additional $75 million in research, as well as provide more than 600,000 women with FREE screenings and over 100,000 with treatment assistance.

Breast Cancer doesn’t discriminate

Breast Cancer took the life of one of my favorite people. Her name was Gina, but those who loved her called her “Moni”. From the moment I met her, I loved her. She smiled alot. She laughed. She was a magnet for children. She fought hard to win the battle against breast cancer, but in the end the beast took her.  It’s too late to save Moni, but the statistics say that one in three women will be diagnosed.

I have two sisters. Those statistics are frightening because they mean that its likely one of us will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

I’m doing the part because the life the cure saves might just be my own.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the US< other than skin cancer and second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.

The reality is breast cancer needs a cure. Right now there are more than  2½ million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
While we can’t control our family history, research says a healthy lifestyle is one of the best defenses against breast cancer.
  •  Exercise may help reduce breast cancer risk.  Research suggests four or more hours of exercise weekly may help reduce the risk of certain cancers, such as breast cancer – that’s just 35 minutes a day
  • When trimming calories, it’s important to make sure you don’t skimp on good nutrition. For only 70 calories, Eggland’s Best eggs supply a perfect portion of complete protein, while providing two times more Vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids, as well as 10 times more Vitamin E compared to ordinary eggs.

Preliminary evidence suggests that, as part of a healthy diet, vitamin D and choline can help to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Eggland’s Best eggs are an excellent source of these nutrients, containing double the vitamin D of ordinary eggs in addition to  25% of the daily requirement of choline.

Eggland’s Best eggs offer “two times more vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acides, and 25 percent less saturated fat, compared to ordinary eggs–all for just 70 calories. In addition to these fortifications, Eggland’s Best offers cage-free and organic eggs.

Folks on the go will love the convenience of Eggland’s Best in their hard-cooked and peeled ready-to-eat variety. That’s right, no time spent cooking, peeling or cleaning up. Just a healthy snack for on the go.
