If you have kiddos you already know this Friday (July 21) the much-anticipated musical sequel, Descendants 2 will debut, at 8 pm EST, on six different channels at the same time.
That’s right, six channels: ABC, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Lifetime, Lifetime Movies, and Freeform (formerly ABC Family).
Descendants 2 will also be available through online applications and available on DVD Aug. 15.
Two summers ago, the first Descendants started it all. THAT premiere was the fifth-most watched cable movie of all time.
Descendants is the pop culture of my children’s generation. If you haven’t seen Descendants is a musical fantasy featuring the children of Disney’s infamous heroes and villains.
Just to catch you up, the king of Auradon (who happens to be the son of Belle and the Beast, Ben) permits four children from the Isle of the Lost, where the villains were banished, to come to school in Auradon.
Those four children, Mal (Maleficent’s daughter), Evie (the Evil Queen’s daughter), Jay (Jafar’s son) and Carlos (Cruella de Vil’s son) arrive in Auradon and are leading a seemingly good life except their parents are pressuring them to continue to be villainous and steal Fairy Godmother’s wand for that whole world-domination thing for which all villains seem to be wanting.
It has some musical numbers, which my daughter already seems to know all the words to, like “Ways to Be Wicked”.
I have seen highlights from Descendants 2, and while I would never reveal this to my daughter, I might be more excited than she is about this movie.
It’s fun. It’s choreographed by the legendary Kenny Ortega.
It stars Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, China Ann McClain, BooBoo Stewart, and Sophia Carson.
Tune in Friday night, with the rest of us, for the most anticipated summer event of 2017: Descendants 2.
