My kiddos are in the final countdown for the end of school and Memorial Day weekend, which, to them, marks the beginning of all things summer: swimming, hiking, backyard picnics, fishing, camping and riding their bike into the darkness of night.
We are year round sunscreen wearers. We haven’t always been. There was a time I worshiped the fake and bake and we soaked up the sun. Then my dad got skin cancer that left a 6″ scar down the side of his face and just recently he had more skin cancer removed. I never want that for my children. So we play and we protect.
The Divine Miss M is my fairest child. She takes after her dad. When she was a baby we called her “Powder”. I have been diligent in making sure she is protected. It’s non-negotiable and for the most part, she understands it is important.
Beyond Coastal‘s line of natural, family-friendly products that we have recently tried. The Divine Miss M thinks they smell awesome and I like that the rub into her skin easily. When we are in a rush to get out the door some mornings, I have come to appreciate their Active Facestick. It allows me to apply the sunscreen to the kiddos face and not have to get my hands greasy. It’s so much easier than some of our other sunscreen routines have been. Li’l Man says it smells like lemonade!
For myself I love the Citrus Grove Lip Balm. It has an SPF 15 and goes on smooth and leaves my lips feeling supple, not greasy.

They use natural ingredients like aloe vera, coconut oil, jojoba oil and shea butter so it’s moisturizing and nourishing our skin, while protecting us from the sun. It also saves me the lecture from hubby about all the chemicals I’m smothering the kiddos skin with to protect them.

My families favorite fun In the sun activity is definitely going to the beach. The closest beach is about a 2 hour drive from our home, but we have so much fun on road trips, so its well worth the drive. The kids enjoy playing In the water and building sand castles. It gives us a chance to spend quality time together as a family.
We love to watch my oldest son play baseball!! We are in Florida so it is very hot sometimes:) But its well worth it!!!
