Essential Swimwear Review

Review

It’s still chilly here. It snowed last weekend. Hard to believe in a little more than three weeks the swimming pools in our community will be open. The layers of clothing I’ve hidden beneath all winter will eventually be put away and replaced by a swimming suit.

My body is not a well-proportioned canvas for a bathing suit. I have a long torso, stubby short legs, my bottom is smaller than my top, and my weight rests in my abdomen. I’ve opted for the bathing suit covered by a large tee shirt for years. Last year I was introduced to essential swimwear and for the first time unveiled the suit. I’m looking forward to showing off my new essential swimwear watermelon dots suit poolside this year.

Made here in Utah, the company was started by Brittney. She felt the perfect swimming suit didn’t exist. Brittney made her own swimsuit and then made a few for friends and family and word spread. They were comfortable, versatile, and stylish. In 2008 she opened shop and was met with an overwhelming response. Her experience gave her a priceless understanding of women’s needs, wants, and insecurities in swimwear.

That understanding enabled Brittney to design an entire line of Essential Swimwear swimming suits for the 2011 season. Demand has made it impossible for Brittney to be able to hand-make each suit, but she now can offer styles, designs, and a price that meets the needs of women.

The new 2011 essential swimwear line is proof that the company is fantastic. Introducing TEN new top styles, FIVE  new bottoms styles, FOUR new board shorts and FOUR new swim skirts this year. Each one brings some personality to fit its owner.

I was able to review Essential Swimwear. First, what I love about Essential Swimwear is that you create your own swimming suit. You select your top and bottom. Whether you want a tank style or traditionally strapped style top you can coordinate with a skirted bottom or traditional bottom. The possibilities are amazing.

I selected the Watermelon Dots Halter Top. I love the color; it so reminds me of summer. It has adjustable straps and support inside, so I still look girlie. I love that it fits my torso well.

To coordinate, I selected the Watermelon High Waist Bottoms. I love how they complement the top. I wish the waist were a little higher…my tummy needs a little more support, but it’s not anything that’s a deal breaker. Once one, these bottoms don’t creep into crevices they shouldn’t, and I love that!

Both Essential Swimwear tops and bottoms are soft and comfortable. They aren’t restricting and give me a great feeling of comfort and style. The material is soft and doesn’t feel like spandex.

The tops average $34.99 and the bottoms $18.99-$24.99, depending on the style selected.

I feel confident that Essential Swimwear is a swimming suit I will look forward to each year. I love that I was able to choose the size for my upper body and my lower body for a fit that flatters my figure.

Right now, on the essential swimwear blog, they are hosting a giveaway where they are awarding ten $15 gift certificates through the month of May. The entries are easy!

I received an essential swimwear suit in order to facilitate an honest review. No other compensation was received. The opinions, where expressed, are my own and were in no way influenced by the sponsor. Others experiences may vary.
