Holiday Gift Guide: Creative and Easy Gift

Following our delicious samples from Harvest Restaurant the evening progressed to a Make-and-Take Holidy Gift Giving Craft. There were oohs and aahhs and when we saw how simple it was to create, there was no mistaking many of us would be sharing the finished project with our neighbors, co-workers, family, friends and keeping a few for ourselves.

One of the great things about Thanksgiving Point’s Classes is there isn’t a bad seat in the room. With an overhead television, the view is great from wherever you sit. In the picture above you see some of the items for our craft project, burlap, scissors, tin cans, potting soil, forced bulbs (we used Paper Whites), yucca berries and decorative holly berries.

Take an empty, washed out tin can and place some rocks in the bottom to allow drainage. Then fill the tin can up about 3/4 of the way with potting soil.

Next, place a forced bulb, like Paper Whites, with the onion root looking side down. Cover the bulb to its hips with potting soil.

Add moss to the top, hiding the dirt and bulb.
Add some water to nurture your gift.
Add some burlap stripping and embellish! (We used cedar twigs, yucca berries and decorative holly berries!)
Puff out your chest and admire your beautiful, easy gift!
If you need further inspiration, here’s some of the finished projects shared with us!
Use a box rather than a can
Use a paper planting pot, cover with decorative tissue and gussie up with some spiffy embellishments!
The tin can still wins me over!

Each gift can can be made for under $2.00 and it’s a festive way to share the Holidays with anyone!

This is part of my Thanksgiving Point Annual Pass post. I received an Annual Family Pass from Thanksgiving Point. No other compensation was received. The opinions, where expressed are myh own, and were in no way influenced by the sponsor! Others expereinces may vary.
