Review: Stretchaflex

Let’s Get Physical!

My husband said to me last night, “I’m proud of you. You’ll be in shape before you know it!”

I replied, “I don’t want to be in shape; I just want to be thin!”

“There’s a difference?”

“Of course there’s a difference! People look at me and just want to see “thin”; they don’t care how many sit-ups, push-ups or how far I can hike without killing over.”

The reality is I want BOTH, but working for it sure is making me tired and sore.

Once upon a time, I was in shape. I weighed a socially acceptable number for my body. I ran track. I swam. I could do one-armed chin ups and triangle push-ups. I could touch my nose to my knees without a second thought. Back then, I didn’t fear stretching equipment or exercise.

Then came children. I held my own until my womb had three tenants in three years and from there, it just got worse!

If you’ve followed my blog, you know I HATE exercise. It’s the sweating and heavy breathing that I really despise.

Then about one month ago I was fortunate to receive a device called STRETCHAFLEX. It’s a long, nylon adjustable strap with loops on either end. My son described it best when he said, “It looks like a tow strap.”
I love this contraption!

Stretchaflex is used to achieve an enhanced stretch by providing leverage. It works similarly to isometrics. Of course, when I received it, I really didn’t recognize the potential. It came with an instructional DVD and I’m naturally curious, so I put it in the DVD. This DVD is a great starting point for stretches and how to utilize the Stretchaflex for optimization of results. Dynamic stretches are also an option and something I am really beginning to enjoy!

It’s a slow, relaxing pace as the DVD walks the user through motions. The DVD explains how to adjust the strap and reminds one not to OVER stretch. The DVD demonstrates how to adjust the straps; the proper placement of the straps and the motions of the stretch.

I enjoy using the Stretchaflex. I don’t sweat like a pig, though I do tend to get “dewey”. Initially, my muscles were sore from using the Stretchaflex, but as I’ve become more flexible, the pain has subsided and I feel amazing after my stretching routine with Stretchaflex.

The tension the Stretchaflex provides is awesome! The ability to manipulate the Stretchaflex enables me to feel the stretch and then with some minor adjustments I can change the position or length to really feel the stretch, without straining other muscles.

From the Stretchaflex website, some of the benefits of using this strap include:

•Improves flexibility
•Improves range of motion in your joints
•Improves circulation
•Relieves stress
•Injury prevention and recovery
•Improves posture and technique

In less than four weeks, I am a testimony to Stretchaflex’s ability to transform. My left hip is my downfall. I’ve really focused on stretching my leg and hip area and the difference is life-transforming. I can walk much further on it without any issues. I’m more flexible than I was four weeks ago, palms flat to the floor and my chin can touch my knee (though barely) in a seated, split as far as I can, position. Stretchaflex is giving me confidence and allowing me to regain my Champion status in Jacks as I can stay seated and reach far into the circle without effort!

One of the greatest benefits of Stretchaflex is that I can stretch while watching TV or reading. No going out, no occupying the TV, or dressing up in my workout clothes. It’s quiet, relaxing, and still giving me a stretch! How can you not love that portability!

My son, Jake, and I have used it for tug-o-war, which is a great workout for both of us!
